AENA Bilbao Airport
Spain
Project overview
CITCOnveyors delivered a baggage reclaim carousel renovation for Bilbao Airport, part of the AENA airport network in northern Spain. Completed in 2023 in collaboration with system integrator Mega Spain for AENA, Spain's national airport operator, the project included the replacement of one baggage reclaim carousel and the supply of dedicated feeding conveyors.
The new carousel features an L-shaped layout measuring 46 meters, designed to fit the existing arrivals hall configuration while maximizing baggage presentation length. Manufactured at the CITCOnveyors factory in Romania, the carousel uses stainless steel construction and horizontal slat design for reliable, low-maintenance operation. Feeding conveyors connect the carousel directly to the airport's baggage handling system for seamless baggage flow from airside to the reclaim area.
Bilbao Airport serves the Basque Country region and handles over 7 million passengers annually, with a mix of domestic, European and seasonal charter traffic. The carousel renovation supports continued growth while maintaining efficient baggage delivery at one of northern Spain's busiest airports.
