AENA Menorca Airport
Spain
Project overview
CITCOnveyors delivered a complete baggage reclaim carousel renovation for Menorca Airport, part of the AENA airport network in Spain. Completed in 2022 in collaboration with system integrator Mega Spain for AENA, Spain's national airport operator, the project covered the full replacement of 4 horizontal baggage reclaim carousels across the arrivals hall, including the manufacture, delivery and on-site installation.
The carousels were manufactured at the CITCOnveyors factory in Romania and shipped to Menorca for installation. Three units feature an O-shaped layout measuring 53, 55 and 56 meters respectively, designed for standard domestic and European short-haul traffic. The fourth carousel is a U-shaped layout extending to 120 meters, engineered to handle higher baggage volumes on peak seasonal routes. Each carousel includes dedicated feeding conveyors for connection to the airport's baggage handling system.
Menorca Airport is a key seasonal destination in the Mediterranean, handling approximately 4.2 million passengers annually with peak traffic exceeding 700,000 passengers per month during the summer season. The carousel renovation ensures reliable baggage delivery across all arrivals positions, with stainless steel construction and low-maintenance operation designed for continuous duty in a high-traffic environment.
